CELEBRITY INFLUENCE
Inspirational Celebrities: Are they moulding children in the wrong way?
by Lauren Court Some celebrities are very inspirational in a positive way. For example, Oprah Winfrey; she made herself millions by committing herself to her job and working hard. She is an actress, producer, talk show host, media proprietor and philanthropist. She even made her own TV programme, ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’, and is starring in the upcoming movie, ‘The Butler’. Another good influence is Mr. George Clooney. He does a lot of good in the world. He’s an American actor, film director, producer, and screenwriter. He has received three Golden Globe Awards for his work as an actor and two Academy Awards — one for acting and the other for producing. Celebrities like Bruno Mars and Rihanna sometimes don’t realise their fans are children and teens so some of their songs are inappropriate for the people listing. For example, I was singing ‘Locked out of Heaven’ by Bruno Mars on the coach to a match, and my friend nudged me to ensure I changed the lyrics to ‘your FACE takes me to paradise’ instead of the inappropriate version. Because we listen to music so much when we love a song, we forget how immune we become to some lyrics and their potentially controversial power. Other celebs make a worse impression. In fact, a MUCH worse impression! Like Miley Cyrus. What happened to her? What happened to inspirational Hannah Montana? She had so much respect as a young actress. She says she is just making a breakaway from her image of ‘young girl actress’ and more into ‘independent woman’. Yet - she manages this by wearing next-to-nothing in the clothing department, taking drugs and indulging in inappropriate licking habits! This is why I think Miley Cyrus should be voted Worst Influence on American Youth Culture at the moment. She, and other celebrities, need to consider the impact they have on their teenage followers more, in order to save a lot of copy-cat behaviour occurring. |
FADING STARS...
Hannah Jones
Whatever happened to Jake Lloyd? Now you may not know who that is but once upon a time, he starred in one of the biggest movie reboots of all time.
‘Star Wars Episode l: The Phantom Menace’ was the much anticipated prequel to the three most iconic and famous blockbusters of the century; even today the original Star Wars trilogy is considered ahead of its time and the stars of the films never stopped gaining recognition. After earning millions in the first three movies, ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’, ‘Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back’, and ‘Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi’, the stars of the trilogy chose not to reprise their original roles in the 1999 prequel.
The role of young Anakin Skywalker was given to Jake Lloyd, who was subsequently criticised for his portrayal. It was after this that he never returned to film again.

Has anyone noticed that the star who came up with the Number One song of 1999, 'The Thong Song' that still plays on the radio has completely dropped off the map?
Mark Althavean Andrews, otherwise known as Sisqo, hit Number One on the Billboard 100, but has since dropped off our radar…

FRIENDSHIP
by Lauren Court
To the vast majority of people, friendship is very important. For most children and teens, their friends are mainly in school. Take me for example. Two of my best friends do not go my school, but one used to go to this school and I met her then. I have lots of friends in school because I spend all day with them.
In order to understand what makes a good friend, sometimes all you have to do is ask them!
I interviewed my best friend, and here's what she said:
Tell me what you think of the importance of friendship.
Everyone needs a friend to not feel alone.
If you see someone without anyone to talk to, do you go over and hang out with them, or ignore them?
You should always go up to them to make them feel better. You would not like it if you were all alone, would you?
And finally, you have the privilege to have FRIENDS. Are you as grateful as you feel you should be?
I feel I could be nicer to my friends, but I definitely don’t take them for granted.
Thank you for your input on the subject.
Anytime!

THE BEAUTY EDIT
Georgia Lyons goes through her list of essentials for any make-up kit.
EOS Lip Balm I got my EOS lip balm in the summer and have been using it nonstop ever since! It is so smooth and works great on dry lips; there are so many different flavours and it smells amazing! The only bad thing about the product in my opinion is the packaging. I like how it looks and the shape the actual balm comes in, but when you drop it onto the floor it usually rolls under beds or tables, and generally places that are hard to reach. Overall I really like this product and would definitely recommend it. Maybelline The Rocket Volume Express Mascara Maybelline's The Rocket Volume Express Mascara is very good because the wand is innovative, and reduces clumps. The product has very good colour payoff. The product does what is says on bottle because it can take your lashes to extreme lengths. Maybelline Colour Tattoo I have the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in pink gold; it is a really nice colour and is easy to apply. The only bad thing is that you have to apply a LOT to see it, but when you do, it is really pretty. Urban Decay Naked Palette The Naked Palette has really nice brown matte and shimmer shades in it. The colours have really good texture and stay on all day. The colours are quite similar so they could have removed some of them to save space and maximise the product’s wow-factor. Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation I really like this foundation because it is really light and easy to apply. It is £10.99 in Boots and Superdrug. It is a liquid foundation so it is really light. |
TATTOOS: GOOD OR BAD?
by Hannah Jones
Tattoos are not only popular (and growing more so by the day) but they are also addictive and becoming the world’s favourite way to display permanent messages. Celebrities have been fans of this artform for a long time; it gives them a chance to write or draw something personal and meaningful on their bodies. But are these celebs' tattoos becoming weird, useless and even laughable? For example Justin Bieber has 11 tattoos, including: a tiger; an angel; an owl; a picture of Jesus; and an Indian man on his back - and this is only the start of these unmeaningful inkings! Even David Beckham has 15 - but the record stands with Lucky Diamond Rich who has 500! Harry Styles, who has 27, says that the reason he has so many is because he thinks that they are “cool and expressive and something that can remind you of what’s important in life." Even so, the tattoos that some people have covered themselves in are stupid and unreasonable. Imagine when you're 90 and your saggy skin is covered in tatts, or if you got a tattoo with the name of your girlfriend, and then two weeks later you break up! It’s embarrassing, and you will regret it if you decide to do things like that. |

HOW TO MAKE A JUSTIN BIEBER DART BOARD
By William Hayward
1: Make or create a dart board.
2: Print off a picture of Justin Bieber [this might hurt!]
3: Attach ketchup packets to the board.
4: Then stick the picture on.
5: Now you can hurt him all you want - and it’s also a good ketchup dispenser.
